Meadowmount School of Music
Founded in 1944 by the legendary Ivan Galamian, this unique school was created to give his violin students a place to practice and perform, free of the distractions of city living, in a quiet, rural setting. Since 1954, Meadowmount has been under the aegis of the Society for Strings, Inc. In addition to violin, instructors have been added to provide lessons in cello, chamber music, piano and viola.
Meadowmount is a 7 week summer school for these accomplished young people to train for professional careers in music. Students range in age from 8 to 30 and come from all parts of the United States and the world to this quiet mountain setting for rigorous practice and coaching on their instruments. Performance opportunities are given at concerts twice a week. These concerts are open to the public. |
